About the Course
Creating safe and affirming spaces requires more than good intentions. It requires shared language, thoughtful reflection, practical tools, and a commitment to showing up differently. This self-paced course is designed for professionals, educators, staff, supervisors, administrators, and organizational leaders who want to better support LGBTQIA+ colleagues, students, clients, and community members. Throughout the course, you will explore LGBTQIA+ vocabulary, the history of advocacy, pronoun use, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and the ways harmful assumptions can show up in everyday interactions. You will also examine how to move beyond performative allyship and toward authentic action. By the end of the course, you will have practical strategies for interrupting harmful language, creating more inclusive spaces, and identifying specific changes you can make in your own environment.
